Business
If you want to succeed, there are a lot of people ready to tell you how to do it. Your biggest challenge will be trying to figure out which of the thousands of books, ebooks, workshops, and web sites you need to pay attention to.
The big problem with most of them is they leave you with either fluffy motivational hype that makes you feel good but accomplishes little else, or they give you simple 1-2-3 tactics that only work in very limited and ideal situations.
The bottom line is you walk away no better than you started out. That's why I always advise people to concentrate on developing character and professional life skills. These are rock solid, time-proven principles that will help you attain a greater level of success in just about any situation.

Creating goals that are the RIGHT SIZE. Too many people either pick out a goal that is so small that it doesn't inspire them, or the decide on a goal that is so big, so difficult, that they grow discouraged before achieving it. Does this sound familiar? You may decide to go from zero to earning $250,000 this year from your your first web site. You'd do better to pick a smaller number at first -- like $200 or $500 per month -- then work your way up to $1,000, then $5,000, then $10,000 per month. Choose goals where you can build on your small successes and leverage them quickly up to where you really want to be.
